Obama... How many years left till we get a new president?

President Obama. What can we say about this man? Well, he has made a huge step forward for all Africans in America in that they can do the same things that every other race can, but is this the only good thing about President Obama? Honestly, for the most part yes. There are so many questions when it comes to President Obama.

The main question at hand is if Obama is a true natural born-American citizen. According to multiple blogs, news groups, and websites, two experts inspected the alleged birth certificate of Barack Obama and they are finding it to be fraudulent!! If all of these people are right in that President Obama isn’t truly an American citizen then our country is in trouble. It is a requirement from the constitution that our President of the United States be at least 35 years of age, lived in residence for at least 16 years, and most importantly, be an natural born-American citizen. Some stories are stating that President Obama has been using his sister’s birth certificate. The reason for that theory is that the certificate used is one that is for a female. So, what will America do? Probably nothing because all people can seem to think about is how great this President is. But, do they love the President and his policies, or do they love what he represents which is an African man that has made a difference? I have nothing against change for the better for all races, and in this case the African American race, but I wish that there had been a different, more qualified, reliable African American candidate to take this step toward change.

Another important question when it comes to President Obama is what on Earth is he thinking when he makes his decisions?! Half of the things he does are completely idiotic. One of the most important decisions he has made is his decision to be slow at giving direction toward the oil spill. President Obama waited weeks before allowing any cleanup. This caused the oil to spread further into the ocean harming the marine habitat majorly. Now, the government has finally put a cap on the oil leak so we are finally being able to fix a little bit of what President Obama didn’t help attempt to repair.

So, is that what we want: a president who isn’t for sure an American born citizen and doesn’t take immediate action on critical events that affect our economy and society as a whole? I know that isn’t what I want. The sooner President Obama’s term is up, the better. That way we can get a move on to a better life without Obama, his questionable identity, and his thoughtless decisions.

Kelsey, after I read you blog, I agree with almost everything you have stated. Now… don’t get me wrong, I cannot wait for President Obama’s term to be up, but the question of weather or not he is a citizen. I know that a lot of people think his birth certificate is fraudulent, but honestly… I think with all of the extensive background checks he had to go through to even run for the Presidency, there is NO WAY he isn’t a US Citizen. Personally, I think that this notion of his birth certificate being fake is just a conspiracy theory! But your blog made me think of the new issue we have about abolishing the “birthright citizenship” policy under that 14th amendment . Many Republicans think that this needs to be abolished because many illegal immigrants cross the border and give birth to their child so that he or she can be considered an American Citizen. I personally agree with this 100%. I think its bogus that someone can be considered a citizen when they are brought into the country illegally and both of their parents are considered illegal, that’s cheating the system and its unfair.
Anyways, I really enjoyed your post and just wanted to let you know you aren’t the only one out there who cant wait till his term is up!! I’m counting down the days

I was especially drawn to your blog because it reminded me of my initial perspective and attitude towards President Obama before I began this class. Five weeks ago, I would've engaged in a conversation with anyone willing to listen, stressing the same viewpoints. Although you list many concepts that I still agree with, my knowledge of government has disintegrated the others.

Firstly, I agree with your first point, "he has made a huge step forward for all Africans in America." The election of President Obama marked a landmark stepping stone for our nation with its symbolization of inequality's termination. You said it exceptionally well when you stated you "wish that there had been a different, more qualified, reliable African American candidate to take this step toward change." America was long overdue for the triumph of electing a minority-race President; however, a more qualified individual could have been implemented for the job. In President Obama's defense, there have been many poorly suited Presidents throughout our nation's history, but this lies in our own inefficiencies to elect qualified individuals. It all ties back to education. When people begin to pay less attention to a President's swaying speeches, and more attention to his past political accomplishments, we will progress into a more comfortable state of democracy.

I disagree strongly with the Obama birth certificate scandal. Just as we read falsities about celebrities everyday in the tabloids, lies are saturated all throughout our media for potential popular ratings. With all of the political officials who disagree with President Obama's policies and decisions, it would have been brought against him in a court of law, and he would lose his qualification as our nation's leader. I believe he was born in Hawaii.

Kelsey's last point is very controversial and opinionated, and I would've agreed single-handedly with it as an early student. However, although I still agree with this viewpoint, I have the knowledge to speak in defense of the President. He came into office at a time when our country was in major despair, and has been trying to take extensive measures of change to find a solution to the problem. Although his decisions have been poor, (subject to opinion), it cannot be easy for any single individual to make a significant step in the right direction, that in addition, simultaneously pleases all of the opposing ideas of the uneducated public. It is only every so often that we are graced with a President whose policies actually implement change-- and you have to go through the bad to uncover the good.
